Day two of our San Francisco Spring Break vacation was just as packed with fun activities as day one. We started today taking a yacht cruise on the Carquinez Strait. It is north of San Francisco. We got on the boat at a dock in the city of Martinez.
Thankfully, though cloudy, the rain hadn't come yet. The girls were so excited to be on a boat all by themselves. We had done some trade this summer and were able to purchase this yacht cruise using those trade dollars so other than a $50 docking fee, the whole 2 hour cruise was free.
The little girls had to wear life jackets if they were anywhere outside. If they were in the living quarters, they could remove them. Allison HATED her life jacket.
These are the girls as we waited for our captain to set sail. The boat was so cute with lots of space to relax. We wanted to stay outside most of the time even though it was a little chilly.
Casey and Jillian
Charlotte, Maggie and mom. At one point, we were so relaxed that the teenagers and I stretched out on the benches and fell asleep. After yesterday's crazy schedule, it felt good to have some quiet time.
Charlotte devoured a whole loaf of french bread (okay, maybe not a whole loaf) while we cruised.
At the end of the cruise, our captain called the little kids in to help him drive. Oh my, the girls were so thrilled!
Lydia took the job very seriously.
After we thanked our captain for the wonderful tour of the Strait, we drove to the Jelly Belly Factory for a tour. We have always wanted to do this and we were glad we did. We did have to wait in a HUGE line for our tour to start though. We were amazed that it was so busy! They made us wear these hats on the tour.
After the tour, we posed outside with the Jelly Belly VW bug.
And of course, we had to get a picture by the Jelly Belly sign.
That evening, we went to visit a friend of Casey's named Tina. She grew up with him and when she married, she moved to Oakland. We had dinner together and then went to visit the Oakland temple. We LOVE this temple! The view from the temple is incredible! They also have a great visitor's center with a giant window that looks out upon San Francisco in the distance. We could have sat there all night!
After the visitor's center, we took a family picture outside of the temple. True to form, our kids couldn't take a serious picture. It's too bad because this could have been a great photo. Maybe I will put it on our Christmas cards anyway?
This is the beautiful fountain out front. After touring the temple grounds Charlotte proclaimed that this is the temple that she wants to be married in. I don't blame her!
After the temple, Casey and his friends went to the Kraftwerk concert in Oakland. He loved it! I stayed back in the hotel to play games with the kids. Casey didn't get back until very late that night. We were so tired!
All in all...a great, action packed mini vacation. I can't believe we crammed so much into 2 days. We truly love being together as a family and we really loved our time in San Francisco!
Here is week 13
