Lydia's birthday

My baby turned SIX this week!   Even though she was so very sick with the flu, we were still able to take her out to dinner (during a window when she felt somewhat good) at Red Robin.  Because we don't throw big parties for our kids, we opt to take them out for a special one on one dinner with Mom and Dad.  The girls love it and they look forward to their "night out."  Casey, who had worked all day, met us at the restaurant with two little stuffed animals for Lydia.  She  was thrilled!  While eating, we asked her all of her "favorites," just so we could make sure we were up to date.  Lydia loved the attention.

She also loved the free birthday sundae delivered by the waitresses who also sang to her.  What a treat!

Lydia was determined to have a "My Little Pony" cake this year.  Not knowing how I was going to do it, I convinced her she needed "AppleJack" on her cake as this pony seemed the most do-able.  The pony is made of marshmallow fondant.  Lydia applied every single apple to every single tree!   She was very proud of her work.

As you can see, Lydia put on her fancy pink dress for her "party."  Her party was really just her cousins and grandparents coming over for cake and presents but she insisted on wearing pink.  (Her eyes are still droopy...she wasn't quite feeling great yet.)

Lydia loved her presents and I love this age that is so EASY to shop for!   She is happy with pretty much anything.

Finally, the blowing out of the candles!  We knew that she wasn't feeling well when she refused to eat any of her birthday cake.  Everyone else enjoyed it though :)

Happy sixth birthday to my littlest, youngest child...who will always seem like my baby, no matter how old she gets.

Here is week 3

  1. Oh, happy birthday to Lydia! Wow. I can't even begin to imagine Calleigh at that age. I'm getting nostalgic over her going to preschool--next year!

The cake is amazing! Well done, you!

    Miss you guys!
